Enterprise 5U tower server

The Dell PowerEdge T440 is a 5U tower server built for virtualization, database hosting and software-defined storage. Two Intel Xeon Gold 5218 processors deliver 16 cores each at 2.3 GHz with a 3.9 GHz turbo. 128 GB of DDR4-2400 ECC registered memory is installed across four 32 GB modules. The PERC H730P controller supports RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60.

Sixteen hot-swap bays and redundant power

Sixteen 2.5-inch hot-swap drive trays accept SAS, SATA and SSD media without shutting down the system. Two 750 W platinum power supplies provide redundant hot-plug power. Integrated dual-port gigabit Ethernet and iDRAC 9 Express handle networking and remote management. PCI Express slots remain free for additional RAID, networking or GPU cards.

Scales from smaller tower or rack systems

This configuration replaces single-socket towers or 2U rack servers that have exhausted drive bays, memory slots or CPU threads. The jump is worth it when workloads need 32 total cores, 1 TB maximum memory headroom and 16 drive bays in one chassis.
