The Dell PowerEdge T440 is a 5U rack server built for virtualization, database hosting and software-defined storage. Two Intel Xeon Gold 5218 processors provide 32 total cores at 2.3 GHz with 3.9 GHz turbo, and 32 GB of DDR4-2400 ECC registered memory supports demanding workloads. Sixteen 2.5-inch hot-swap bays and a PERC H730P RAID controller give flexible local storage capacity.

Sixteen front-access 2.5-inch trays accept SAS, SATA and SSD drives without shutting down the system. Dual 750 W platinum-efficiency power supplies share the load and allow one unit to be replaced while the server stays online. Integrated dual-port Gigabit Ethernet and iDRAC 9 Express provide remote management and network connectivity.

Redundant 750 W platinum power supplies reduce energy waste during typical virtualization and database tasks. Hot-swap fans maintain airflow across the processors and drive bays when the chassis is fully populated. iDRAC 9 Express monitors thermal sensors and power draw in real time, allowing administrators to adjust fan profiles or set power caps without physical access. The tower-to-rack conversion option keeps airflow consistent in either orientation.
