5U rack server with dual Xeon Silver 4110 processors at 2.1 GHz, 128 GB DDR4 ECC memory, PERC H330 controller and sixteen 2.5-inch hot-swap drive trays
The Dell PowerEdge T440 is a 5U tower server built for virtualization, database hosting and file storage workloads. It ships with two Intel Xeon Silver 4110 processors running at 2.1GHz with 3.0GHz turbo, providing 16 cores total for multi-threaded tasks. The 128GB of DDR4-2400 ECC registered memory across four 32GB modules suits small to medium business applications.
This system replaces earlier tower servers limited to fewer drive bays or single-socket configurations. The jump is worthwhile when you need sixteen 2.5-inch hot-swap bays with SAS and SATA support on a PERC H330 controller. Dual 750W platinum power supplies add redundancy that single-PSU units lack, and iDRAC 9 Express enables remote management without extra licensing.
Sixteen drive trays give ample room for storage arrays, while the H330 controller handles RAID 0, 1, 5, 10 and 50 across SAS and SATA drives. Memory scales to 1TB across 16 DDR4 slots, so the current 128GB leaves significant headroom for growth. The dual-socket LGA 3647 design is already fully populated, so CPU expansion stops at the two installed Xeon Silver 4110 processors.

The server occupies 5U of rack space and the ready rails are not included, so a compatible Dell rail kit must be sourced separately for rack mounting.
Both CPU sockets are already populated with the two 8-core Silver 4110 processors; no further processor installation is needed unless a failed unit is replaced.
The system has 16 DDR4 slots with four 32GB modules installed; additional DDR4-2400 ECC Registered DIMMs can fill the remaining slots up to the 1TB maximum.
