5U tower server with dual 12-core Xeon Silver 4116 processors, 256GB DDR4, PERC H730P controller and four 960GB SATA SSDs
The Dell PowerEdge T440 is a 5U rack server built for virtualization, database hosting and file storage workloads. It ships with two Intel Xeon Silver 4116 processors, each running at 2.1 GHz with a 3.0 GHz turbo frequency and 12 cores per socket. The system includes 256 GB of DDR4-2400 ECC registered memory across eight 32 GB modules and a PERC H730P controller with 2 GB cache. Four 960 GB SATA SSDs are pre-installed in the 16-bay 2.5-inch chassis.
The server provides sixteen 2.5-inch hot-swap drive bays that accept both SAS and SATA media. The PERC H730P controller supports RAID levels 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60 as well as pass-through mode. Network connectivity is limited to two integrated 1 GbE ports. Memory capacity can be expanded to 1 TB using the sixteen available DDR4 slots. The power supply consists of two redundant 750 W platinum-efficiency units.
Verify that your rack or floor space accommodates a 5U tower form factor and that front bezel and rail kits are sourced separately. Confirm that your workloads are compatible with dual Xeon Silver 4116 CPUs in an LGA 3647 socket. Ensure the DDR4 ECC registered memory type matches any planned expansion modules. Check that the two 1 GbE ports meet your network bandwidth requirements before ordering.

The server ships with four 960GB SATA SSDs installed; the remaining twelve 2.5-inch bays are empty and accept additional SAS or SATA drives up to the controller limits.
Each of the two Silver 4116 12-core processors runs at 2.1GHz base and can boost to 3.0GHz under thermal headroom, giving 24 total cores for parallel tasks such as virtualization or database hosting.
The H730P connects to the backplane at 12Gb/s SAS, but the four 960GB drives are SATA 6Gb/s, so each SSD is capped at the SATA 6Gb/s link speed while the controller provides RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50, 60 and pass-through modes.
