5U rack server with dual 12-core Xeon Silver 4116 CPUs, 16 GB DDR4, H730P RAID controller and four 1.92 TB SATA SSDs
The Dell PowerEdge T440 is a 5U tower server with an optional rack conversion kit. It ships with dual Intel Xeon Silver 4116 processors, each running at 2.1GHz with a 3.0GHz turbo frequency and 12 cores. The system includes 16GB of DDR4-2400 ECC registered memory installed across two slots. A PERC H730P storage controller with 2GB cache manages the four 1.92TB SATA solid-state drives. Dual 750W platinum power supplies provide redundancy.
This configuration suits virtualization hosts running VMware ESXi, Hyper-V or Proxmox, as well as database, file, backup and software-defined storage roles. The 16 drive bays support SAS and SATA media for capacity scaling. Buyers who need more than two processor sockets or memory beyond the 1TB maximum should evaluate other platforms. The installed 16GB is a starting point for most production deployments.
The PERC H730P controller enables RAID levels 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60 plus pass-through mode. It connects to the 16-bay 2.5-inch backplane using 12Gb/s SAS and SATA signalling. This controller choice determines which drive types and RAID topologies are available. Verify that your storage plan matches these supported RAID modes and the SATA interface of the included drives.

The server ships with two Xeon Silver 4116 processors, 16 GB DDR4 ECC memory, PERC H730P 2 GB controller, four 1.92 TB SATA SSDs, dual 750 W power supplies, and iDRAC 9 Express. Front bezel and ready rails are not included.
The system has 16 GB installed across two 8 GB modules and supports up to 1 TB across 16 slots. For virtualization workloads, populate additional slots with DDR4-2400 ECC registered DIMMs to reach the capacity your VMs require.
Each of the 24 total cores runs at 2.1 GHz base with 3.0 GHz turbo, providing consistent throughput for database hosting, virtualization, and file services while the turbo frequency handles burst demand.
