Dual Xeon Silver 4210 5U server

The Dell PowerEdge T440 is a 5U tower server fitted with two Intel Xeon Silver 4210 processors, each running at 2.2 GHz with a 3.2 GHz turbo frequency. Sixteen gigabytes of DDR4-2400 ECC registered memory are installed across two modules. The system is designed for virtualization, database hosting and file storage workloads.

PERC H730P controller with 2 GB cache

The integrated Dell PERC H730P 2 GB 12 Gb/s SAS/SATA controller adds hardware RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60 plus pass-through modes. Four 2.5-inch drive trays are included to start populating the sixteen hot-swap bays. This upgrade replaces software RAID or entry-level controllers that lack battery-backed cache and advanced RAID levels.

Redundant 750 W platinum power supplies

Two hot-plug 750 watt platinum-efficiency power supplies provide redundancy for continuous operation. iDRAC 9 Express enables remote monitoring and firmware management without attaching a console. The chassis supports optional rack conversion for data-centre deployment when tower orientation is no longer suitable.

Questions about this item

How much rack height does this 5U tower server occupy when installed with the optional rack conversion kit?

The server occupies 5U of rack space when mounted using the optional rack conversion kit designed for the PowerEdge T440.

What is the correct order for installing the two Xeon Silver 4210 processors into the LGA 3647 sockets?

Install the first processor into CPU socket 1 before adding the second processor to socket 2; the system will not boot if only socket 2 is populated.

When should the battery on the PERC H730P storage controller be replaced to maintain RAID cache protection?

Replace the controller battery when iDRAC 9 Express reports a battery fault or when the battery status shows degraded during POST.
