5U rack server with dual 10-core Xeon Silver 4210 CPUs, 256GB DDR4, H730P controller, four 1.92TB SATA SSDs and redundant 750W power supplies
The Dell PowerEdge T440 is a 5U tower server built for data-centre workloads such as virtualization, database hosting and software-defined storage. It ships with dual Intel Xeon Silver 4210 processors, each delivering ten cores at 2.2 GHz with a 3.2 GHz turbo frequency. The system includes 256 GB of DDR4-2400 ECC registered memory across eight 32 GB modules. A PERC H730P controller with 2 GB cache manages the four installed 1.92 TB SATA SSDs and supports RAID levels 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60.
This configuration fits organisations that need high core counts, large memory capacity and redundant 750 W platinum power supplies in a tower form factor that can later be rack-mounted. It serves VMware ESXi, Hyper-V, Proxmox VE, Windows Server and Linux deployments well. Buyers who need more than sixteen 2.5-inch drive bays, greater than 1 TB of RAM, or integrated 10 GbE networking should evaluate other platforms. The absent front bezel and ready rails must be sourced separately if required.
The PERC H730P 2 GB controller determines whether this server matches a storage topology because it provides hardware RAID across SAS and SATA drives with battery-backed cache. It enables the installed SSDs to operate in any supported RAID level and adds pass-through mode for software-defined storage stacks. Compatibility with existing drive shelves, backplane cabling and management tools hinges on this controller generation.

The system has 16 DDR4 slots and currently uses 8 of them for the 256GB configuration, so additional DDR4-2400 ECC Registered DIMMs can be added in the remaining slots.
During POST the BIOS lists both CPUs with 10 cores each at 2.2 GHz, and the H730P 2GB controller appears with its firmware version before the OS loads.
The server includes 2 CPUs, 256GB RAM, H730P controller, 4x 1.92TB SATA SSDs, dual 1GbE, iDRAC 9 Express, 2x 750W PSUs, and rails; front bezel and rack conversion kit are not included.
