5U rack server with dual 10-core Xeon Silver 4210 processors, 64GB DDR4, H730P RAID controller and sixteen 2.5-inch drive trays
The Dell PowerEdge T440 is a 5U tower server with optional rack conversion that ships new with dual Intel Xeon Silver 4210 processors running at 2.2GHz with 3.2GHz turbo across twenty total cores. Sixty-four gigabytes of DDR4-2400 ECC registered memory occupy four of sixteen slots, leaving room to reach the 1TB maximum. A PERC H730P 2GB controller provides RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60 plus pass-through for SAS and SATA drives across sixteen 2.5-inch hot-swap trays.
Organisations running VMware ESXi, Hyper-V or Proxmox VE clusters, Microsoft SQL Server instances, file and print services, backup targets or software-defined storage will find the dual-socket compute density and sixteen-bay flexibility a direct match. Buyers who need GPU-dense nodes, higher single-thread frequencies or a smaller rack footprint should evaluate alternative chassis styles. The integrated dual-port Gigabit adapter and iDRAC 9 Express cover baseline remote management and networking without extra cards.
The chassis accepts up to sixteen SAS, SATA or SSD drives in Dell 13G trays, so the storage ceiling is set by the number of populated bays and the RAID level chosen on the H730P. Memory expansion uses DDR4 ECC RDIMMs only, and the board maxes at two Silver 4210 CPUs with no upgrade path to higher-core-count Scalable processors.
