A 5U rack server with dual 10-core Xeon Silver 4210 processors at 2.2 GHz, 64 GB DDR4-2400 ECC memory, a PERC HBA330 controller for 16 hot-swap 2.5-inch SAS/SATA bays, dual 1 GbE ports.
The Dell PowerEdge T440 is a 5U tower server that supports optional rack conversion and ships with two Intel Xeon Silver 4210 processors, each running at 2.2 GHz with a 3.2 GHz turbo frequency. The system includes 64 GB of DDR4-2400 ECC registered memory across four 16 GB modules and a Dell PERC HBA330 12 Gb/s SAS/SATA storage controller. It provides sixteen 2.5-inch hot-swap drive bays with eight trays installed, dual-port gigabit Ethernet, and iDRAC 9 Express for remote management.
Two 750 watt platinum-efficiency power supplies operate in a redundant hot-swap configuration to maintain uptime during a module failure. The 5U chassis allows generous airflow paths for the dual 10-core processors and memory population of up to 1 TB across sixteen DDR4 slots. Thermal design targets typical enterprise workloads such as virtualization, database hosting, and software-defined storage without requiring exotic cooling.
The front panel accepts up to sixteen 2.5-inch SAS, SATA, or SSD drives in hot-swap trays, while eight trays are included for immediate deployment. PCI Express slots accommodate additional RAID controllers, networking adapters, GPUs, or other accelerators as workloads evolve. Note that the front bezel and ready rails are not included, so rack mounting hardware must be sourced separately.

Slide each drive into one of the sixteen hot-swap bays until the latch clicks; the step often missed is inserting the Dell 13G tray first so the drive connects to the HBA330 backplane.
The two 750 Watt platinum power supplies and system fans are the primary field-replaceable units; memory and CPUs are not routine maintenance items.
Thermal limits from the dual Xeon Silver 4210 processors at 2.2 GHz with 3.2 GHz turbo trigger fan-speed increases before CPU throttling occurs.
