5U rack server with dual 12-core Xeon Silver 4214 CPUs, 32GB DDR4, H730P RAID controller and four 960GB SSDs
The Dell PowerEdge T440 is a 5U tower server configured with two Intel Xeon Silver 4214 processors running at 2.2 GHz with a 3.2 GHz turbo frequency. Each CPU provides 12 cores for a total of 24 cores across the system. It targets organisations that need scalable compute for virtualisation, database hosting or software-defined storage workloads. The platform supports optional rack conversion for flexible deployment.
The system ships with 32 GB of DDR4-2400 ECC registered memory installed across four of sixteen available slots. This capacity handles light to moderate virtual machine densities and file serving tasks comfortably. Memory can be expanded up to 1 TB when workloads demand larger in-memory datasets or higher consolidation ratios. The PERC H730P controller manages the four included 960 GB SATA SSDs with RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60 support.
This configuration replaces single-processor tower servers that have exhausted their core count or memory slot limits. The jump is worthwhile when applications benefit from 24 cores and the ability to scale memory to 1 TB without changing chassis. Sixteen 2.5-inch hot-swap bays provide room to grow storage well beyond the four installed drives. Buyers who need GPU acceleration or more than two processors should evaluate larger platforms.

Yes, the 16-bay 2.5" chassis supports SAS, SATA, and SSD storage. The PERC H730P controller manages RAID 0/1/5/6/10/50/60, so additional SATA SSDs can be added to the remaining hot-swap bays.
During POST, the H730P BIOS lists each detected drive and its RAID status. iDRAC 9 Express also shows the full hardware inventory — 2x 12-core Silver 4214 at 2.2 GHz, 32 GB DDR4-2400, and the four 960 GB SSDs — without needing an OS.
The server ships with the 5U chassis, 2x Xeon Silver 4214 processors, 4x 8 GB DDR4-2400 ECC RDIMMs, PERC H730P 2 GB controller, 4x 960 GB 2.5" SATA SSDs, dual-port 1 GbE NIC, iDRAC 9 Express, and 2x 750 W platinum hot-plug PSUs.
