5U tower server with dual Xeon Silver 4210 processors, 32GB DDR4, H730P controller and four 1.92TB SATA SSDs
This new Dell PowerEdge T440 is a 5U tower server equipped with two Intel Xeon Silver 4210 processors running at 2.2 GHz with a 3.2 GHz turbo frequency. Each CPU provides ten cores, giving twenty cores in total. The system includes 32 GB of DDR4-2400 ECC registered memory across four modules and a Dell PERC H730P storage controller with 2 GB cache. Four 1.92 TB SATA solid-state drives are installed in the 16-bay 2.5-inch hot-swap chassis.
The dual-processor configuration and ECC memory suit businesses running VMware ESXi, Microsoft Hyper-V, Proxmox VE, Microsoft SQL Server or file and print services. Redundant 750 W platinum power supplies and iDRAC 9 Express remote management support continuous operation. Buyers who need more than two processors or who require memory capacity beyond the 1 TB maximum should consider other platforms. The tower form factor also means rack mounting requires an optional conversion kit.
The installed Dell PERC H730P controller supports RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60 plus pass-through mode, providing hardware RAID acceleration for the SATA and SAS drives. This controller determines the storage performance and data-protection options available. Buyers who need a different RAID feature set or a controller without a battery-backed cache should verify compatibility before purchasing.
