Mobile workstation for engineering

The Dell Precision 3560 2-in-1 laptop combines an 11th Gen Intel Core i7-1185G7 processor with 32 GB DDR4 3200 MHz memory and a 512 GB PCIe x4 NVMe SSD. NVIDIA Quadro T500 graphics with 2 GB GDDR6 VRAM drive CAD and simulation workloads. Windows 11 Pro is pre-installed.

Suits field engineers needing ISV-certified apps

Professionals running SolidWorks, Revit or similar tools benefit from the Quadro driver stack and Thunderbolt 4 docking. Buyers who require a touchscreen or larger local storage capacity should evaluate other configurations. The non-touch 15.6-inch Full HD panel prioritises colour accuracy over pen input.

Quadro T500 2 GB GDDR6 decides fit

The entry-level professional GPU handles 2D drafting and light 3D modelling within its 2 GB frame buffer. Heavier assemblies, GPU rendering or multi-monitor 4K setups will exceed the available video memory. Verify your software vendor’s certified hardware list before purchase.

Questions about this item

How loud or hot does the i7-1185G7 get when the Precision 3560 runs heavy workloads all day?

The 11th Gen Intel Core i7-1185G7 operates between 2.80 GHz and 4.70 GHz. Under sustained load the Quadro T500 with 2 GB GDDR6 and the CPU share the thermal solution, so fan speed rises but the chassis stays within workstation-class limits.

Which cables or docks must I already own to use the two Thunderbolt 4 ports and HDMI 2.0 on this 3560?

You need Thunderbolt 4 or USB-C cables for the two Thunderbolt 4 ports and a standard HDMI 2.0 cable for the video output. The laptop also provides two USB-A 3.1/3.2 Gen 2 ports, a Gigabit Ethernet jack and a microSD slot.

Will my older USB-A 3.0 peripherals and DisplayPort monitors work with the Thunderbolt 4 and HDMI 2.0 ports on this unit?

Yes. The two Thunderbolt 4 ports are backward compatible with USB-A 3.0 devices via an adapter or hub, and the HDMI 2.0 port drives legacy DisplayPanel monitors through a passive HDMI-to-DisplayPort cable. Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.1 also coexist with older 2.4 GHz gear.
