Mobile workstation for CAD and data analysis

The Dell Precision 3570 is a 15.6-inch entry-level mobile workstation built for performance-driven professional applications such as CAD, engineering and data analysis. It runs on a 12th Generation Intel Core i7-1255U vPro Essentials processor with 12 threads and a 15 W base power. The system includes 16 GB of DDR4 memory at 3200 MHz and a 512 GB PCIe NVMe SSD. Windows 11 Pro is pre-installed.

Thermals noise and power in daily use

The processor operates at a 15 W base power with a maximum turbo frequency of 4.70 GHz. Integrated Intel Iris Xe Graphics handles visual output without a discrete GPU, which helps contain heat and acoustic output during typical office and engineering workloads. The 250-nit anti-glare display runs at 60 Hz and covers 45% NTSC. Stereo speakers deliver 4 W total audio power.

Build connectivity and daily workflow

The chassis weighs 3.5 kg and comes in silver. Ports include one RJ-45 Ethernet port, two USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A ports (one with PowerShare), two Thunderbolt 4 USB-C ports with DisplayPort Alt Mode and Power Delivery, one HDMI 2.0 port and a universal audio jack. Wireless connectivity uses Intel Wi-Fi 6E AX211 with Bluetooth. A 720p 30 fps webcam supports video calls. The non-touch FHD screen suits users who prefer a matte surface.

Questions about this item

How do I install the 512 GB PCIe NVMe SSD in the Precision 3570 and what step is often missed?

The SSD is factory-fitted; if adding a second drive, insert it into the M.2 slot at a 30-degree angle, secure the screw, then enable the new volume in Windows Disk Management — the step most users skip.

Which component of the 16 GB DDR4 3200 MHz memory will need replacement first under heavy workloads?

The memory is soldered and not user-replaceable; sustained heavy workloads will hit the 16 GB capacity limit before any physical wear occurs.

What thermal limit appears first on the i7-1255U during sustained 4.70 GHz turbo loads?

The 15 W base power envelope forces the CPU to throttle from 4.70 GHz toward 1.70 GHz once the cooling solution saturates, typically within minutes of full-load work.
