Precision 5530 mobile workstation

The Precision 5530 is a 15.6 inch mobile workstation built around a six-core Intel Core i7-8850H processor with 32 GB of DDR4 memory and a 4 TB PCIe NVMe M.2 SSD. A dedicated NVIDIA Quadro P1000 graphics card with 4 GB of GDDR5 memory handles professional visual workloads. It ships with Windows 10 Pro installed and includes a Dell AC adapter.

UHD touch display and connectivity

The 3840 x 2160 UHD IPS panel supports multi-touch input and covers 72 percent of the colour gamut. For external devices the chassis provides two USB 3.1 Gen 1 ports, one Thunderbolt 3 port with four lanes of PCIe, an HDMI 2.0 output and a combined headphone and microphone jack. Wireless connectivity is handled by a Wi-Fi and Bluetooth combo module.

Premium build and daily implications

The silver chassis uses an InfinityEdge design that reduces bezel width while housing dual fans for sustained thermal performance. Thunderbolt 3 and HDMI 2.0 allow straightforward connection to external displays and high-speed peripherals without adapters. The 4 TB solid-state drive offers substantial capacity for large project files and applications. Buyers who need more storage bays or a larger screen diagonal should consider other form factors.

Questions about this item

Can the 4TB PCIe NVMe M.2 SSD be upgraded later?

The laptop uses an M.2 slot for its 4TB PCIe NVMe SSD. You can replace it with a larger M.2 drive when more capacity is needed.

Does the 72% colour-gamut UHD panel limit colour-critical work during long sessions?

The 15.6" 3840 x 2160 IPS touchscreen covers 72% of the colour gamut, so wide-gamut proofing will need an external monitor.

How loud do the dual fans get when the Quadro P1000 and i7-8850H run all day?

Dual fans are designed to improve airflow and keep the system cool under sustained loads from the 6-core i7-8850H and Quadro P1000.
