Precision 5530 2-in-1 workstation

The Dell Precision 5530 2-in-1 is a 15.6 inch mobile workstation with a 1920 x 1080 FHD touchscreen. It runs on an Intel Core i7-8706G quad-core processor with a 4.10 GHz turbo frequency. The system includes 16GB of memory and a 512GB SSD. Windows 10 Pro comes pre-installed for professional use.

Suited for ISV-certified apps.

This workstation targets engineers and designers who rely on ISV-certified stability for professional applications. The integrated graphics handle standard design and productivity tasks. Buyers who need discrete GPU acceleration for rendering, simulation or heavy 3D workloads should look at a different system. The 2-in-1 form factor supports touch and pen input for creative workflows.

Thunderbolt 3 dual-port connectivity

Two Thunderbolt 3 ports provide four lanes of PCIe Gen 3 each, along with PowerShare, DC-In and DisplayPort capability. This allows connection to high-speed external storage, docking stations and multiple external displays. A micro SD card reader and USB-C 3.1 ports with PowerShare add further peripheral flexibility for mobile professionals.

Questions about this item

Will the i7-8706G and Thunderbolt 3 ports drive my older 1080p monitors without adapters?

The processor reaches 4.1 GHz turbo and the two Thunderbolt 3 ports carry DisplayPort signals, so a simple USB-C to DisplayPort cable connects each 1920 x 1080 screen directly.

How can I confirm the 15.6 inch FHD touchscreen and 16 GB RAM are detected after first boot?

Open Settings > System > Display to see 1920 x 1080 resolution and touch input, then check Settings > About for 16 GB installed memory and the i7-8706G name.

Does the box include a Thunderbolt 3 dock or must I buy one separately for legacy USB-A gear?

The system ships with the laptop, power adapter and Windows 10 Pro; a Thunderbolt 3 dock for USB-A peripherals is not included and must be purchased separately.
