Mobile workstation with Quadro graphics

The Dell Precision 5530 pairs an Intel Core i7 8850H processor with 32 GB of DDR4 memory and a 256 GB SSD. NVIDIA Quadro P1000 graphics with 4 GB of GDDR5 deliver certified driver stability for CAD and 3D applications. A 15.6 inch FHD IGZO4 panel covers 72 percent colour gamut with anti-glare coating. Windows 10 Pro 64-bit is pre-installed.

Compatibility checklist for your workflow

Verify that your external displays use HDMI or Thunderbolt 3 inputs, as the laptop provides one of each alongside two USB 3.1 Gen 1 ports. The SD card reader supports SD, SDHC and SDXC cards up to 2 TB. Dual-band Wireless AC 9260 and Bluetooth 5.0 handle networking and peripherals. Memory can be expanded to 64 GB across two slots if your projects demand more RAM.

Thermals, noise and power in daily use

The thin 0.450 inch chassis relies on a compact cooling solution that spins up under sustained GPU compute loads, producing noticeable fan noise during rendering. Light office work keeps the system quiet and surface temperatures comfortable. The 90 Wh lithium-ion battery is guaranteed to hold a charge, though actual runtime varies with workload intensity and screen brightness.

Questions about this item

Does the box contain the laptop, charger and cables only, or are extras such as a manual, mouse or dock included?

The system ships with the Precision 5530 laptop, a power adapter and cable. A printed manual is not supplied but can be downloaded from Dell. No mouse, dock or additional accessories are included.

Should I choose the 32 GB DDR4 configuration or upgrade to the 64 GB maximum supported by the two memory slots?

The unit already has 32 GB DDR4 installed across two slots. To reach 64 GB both modules must be replaced with 32 GB sticks; 32 GB is sufficient for most professional workloads, while 64 GB helps with very large datasets or heavy virtualisation.

What does the 2.60 GHz base clock on the i7-8850H mean for sustained performance once the laptop is under load?

The six-core processor runs at 2.60 GHz base frequency and can boost higher when thermal headroom allows. In practice the Quadro P1000 with 4 GB GDDR5 handles CAD and 3D viewport work, while the CPU maintains solid multi-threaded throughput for compilation and rendering tasks.
