Dell Precision 5530 mobile workstation

The Dell Precision 5530 is a 15.6-inch mobile workstation built around an 8th Gen Intel six-core i7-8850H processor with 32 GB DDR4 memory and a 128 GB NVMe SSD. It carries an NVIDIA Quadro P1000 graphics card with 4 GB GDDR5 video memory and ships with Windows 10 Pro installed. The non-touch IPS panel delivers a 1920 x 1080 resolution and covers 72% color gamut.

Installation and common issues

The system arrives fully assembled with the operating system pre-loaded so deployment is limited to user-account setup and driver updates. The Thunderbolt 3 port uses a USB-C connector that also carries DisplayPort and PCIe signals; connecting legacy Thunderbolt or USB-A peripherals requires the correct adapter or cable. The single 128 GB NVMe drive leaves little room for large project files, so most workflows will need external storage or an internal drive upgrade.

Suitable users and alternatives

This configuration suits engineers, designers and analysts who need certified professional graphics in a thin 15.6-inch chassis with a six-core processor and 32 GB memory. Buyers who want more storage capacity out of the box should consider a larger SSD option. Users who require a touchscreen, higher refresh-rate panel or consumer-grade GeForce graphics will need a different model.
