Precision 7670 mobile workstation

The Dell Precision 7670 is a 16-inch mobile workstation built for engineers and creators who need certified stability. It pairs a 16-core Intel Core i7-12850HX processor with 32 GB of DDR5 4800 memory and a dedicated Nvidia RTX A3000 GPU carrying 16 GB of GDDR6. Windows 10 Pro runs on a 1 TB PCIe NVMe SSD.

Suited for ISV-certified workflows.

This machine targets professionals running CAD, simulation or render workloads that demand error-correcting memory paths and driver certification. Buyers who want a thin-and-light chassis for frequent air travel or all-day battery runtime should look elsewhere. The 93 Whr battery and 250-nit anti-glare panel favour plugged-in, colour-critical sessions.

GPU VRAM capacity drives model selection

The RTX A3000 provides 16 GB of GDDR6 video memory, a hard limit for scene complexity in GPU-accelerated applications. If your datasets or texture sets exceed that buffer, you will need a workstation with a larger frame buffer. No other specification in this configuration can compensate for insufficient VRAM.

Questions about this item

How do I install extra memory in the Dell Precision 7670, and what step do people often miss?

The laptop ships with 32GB of DDR5 4800 RAM and the seal is opened for upgrade with professional installation included. The step people miss is matching the exact DDR5 4800 specification; other DDR generations will not fit or work.

Which component will need replacement first during the laptop's life?

The 6-cell 93 WHr lithium-ion battery will degrade before other parts. It is the only user-replaceable component with a predictable wear cycle under normal use.

What thermal limit appears first when the i7-12850HX and RTX A3000 run sustained workloads?

The 16-core i7-12850HX can reach 4.80 GHz turbo, but the 250-nit cooling envelope typically throttles the CPU and 16GB GDDR6 GPU before either hits its maximum clock under continuous load.
