Precision 7720 workstation for mobile professionals

The Dell Precision 7720 is a 17.3-inch mobile workstation built around an Intel Core i7-7820HQ processor and NVIDIA Quadro P4000 graphics with 8 GB GDDR5 memory. It ships with 16 GB DDR4 RAM, a 256 GB SSD and Windows 10 Pro. The UltraSharp FHD IPS panel delivers 1920 x 1080 resolution with anti-glare coating. Thunderbolt 3, HDMI 1.4 and mini DisplayPort 1.4 support external displays.

Verify memory, storage

The system includes four memory slots with 64 GB maximum DDR4 capacity, so buyers planning heavy multitasking should confirm their upgrade path. Only a single 256 GB SSD is installed and no optical drive is present, meaning additional internal storage requires an available slot or external solution. Thunderbolt 3, four USB 3.0 ports, HDMI 1.4, mDP 1.4, SD card reader and SmartCard reader provide connectivity; check that your peripherals match these interfaces.

Sustained workloads rely on thermal headroom

The Quadro P4000 and i7-7820HQ are designed for professional applications such as CAD, rendering and simulation over extended periods. Under continuous load the cooling system manages CPU and GPU temperatures to maintain stable clocks, while the 8 GB GDDR5 frame buffer supports large models and textures without swapping. Battery life will decrease significantly during intensive compute tasks, so mains power is recommended for long sessions.

Questions about this item

Does the Precision 7720 include the Windows 10 Pro licence and power adapter, or must I purchase them separately?
