Mobile workstation for legacy Windows 7 workflows

The Dell Precision M4500 runs an Intel Core i7-640M processor at 2.66 GHz with 8 GB of memory and a 128 GB solid-state drive. A 15.6 inch full-HD display and NVIDIA graphics handle visual tasks. Windows 7 Professional 64-bit is pre-installed for environments that still depend on that operating system.

Verify power, battery and latch condition before use

The battery reports a low-status warning in BIOS, so plan for mains operation or a replacement unit. The display lid latch is broken, meaning the screen will not stay closed securely. Check that the VGA output, three USB ports and single eSata connection match your peripheral needs. A DVD-RW drive is fitted for optical media.

Expect higher thermals and fan noise under load

The mobile workstation chassis dissipates heat from the i7-640M and discrete NVIDIA GPU, so sustained workloads will raise surface temperatures and fan speed. Battery degradation means runtime away from mains power will be limited. Power draw peaks when both processor and graphics are active, so keep ventilation clear during intensive sessions.
