Replacement lid assembly for Dell Precision M6400

This new Dell OEM part replaces the 17-inch LCD back cover and hinge set on a Precision M6400 laptop. The assembly includes both left and right hinges together with the wireless and broadband antenna wires. It is sold without the front trim bezel.

Repairers needing the full lid structure

Technicians who only need individual hinge brackets or the display panel itself will not find those parts here. Buyers restoring a different Dell model or a smaller screen size must source the correct assembly for that chassis.

Questions about this item

How do I install the 17" LCD back cover lid assembly on my Precision M6400, and what step is often missed?

Remove the display bezel first, then disconnect the antenna wires before unbolting the old hinges. The step often missed is routing the new antenna wires through the hinge channels exactly as the originals were laid, otherwise the lid will not close flush.

What maintenance will the M169F J42J1 hinge assembly need over time?

The hinge pivots are pre-lubricated and sealed; no user lubrication is required. If the lid develops wobble years later, the entire assembly is replaced as a unit — individual hinge pins or bushings are not serviceable.
