Dell Precision M6700 Base Assembly

This genuine Dell OEM bottom base assembly replaces the original chassis for the Precision M6700 laptop. It includes the battery bay spring latch and display spring latch for a complete repair. The part is designed specifically for EC-only configurations of this model. It restores structural integrity when the original housing is damaged.

Thermals and Power in Normal Use

The assembly contains no active cooling components and draws no power itself. It provides the mounting points for the internal fan and heatsink that manage thermals. Noise and thermal performance depend entirely on those installed components. The part adds no electrical load to the system.

Questions about this item

How do I install the 6MG2K bottom base on my Precision M6700, and what step is often missed?

Remove all screws from the old chassis, transfer the motherboard, then snap in the included battery-bay spring latch and display spring latch — the two spring latches are the step most people forget.

What parts of the 6MG2K assembly will need replacement later?

The plastic spring latches for the battery bay and display hinges can fatigue over time; they are the only moving parts on this base and are replaceable separately.
