Precision M6800 Workstation

The Dell Precision M6800 is a 17.3-inch mobile workstation built for professional workloads. It runs Windows 10 Pro on an Intel Core i7-4800MQ quad-core processor with 6 MB L3 cache. Graphics are handled by an NVIDIA Quadro K3100 with 4 GB DDR5 video memory alongside Intel HD Graphics 4600. Storage combines a 512 GB SSD and a 1 TB hard drive in a dual-drive configuration.

Suited for stationary power users

Engineers and designers who need a large anti-glare Full HD display, numeric keypad, and ISV-certified Quadro graphics will find this chassis familiar. The 47 W processor and 240 W adapter mean the system stays tethered to a desk outlet for sustained loads. Buyers who need a thin-and-light ultraportable or all-day battery life should look elsewhere.

Dual-drive flexibility for projects

The 2.5-inch 512 GB SSD holds the operating system and active project files for fast access, while the 1 TB hard drive stores archives and media. Two SO-DIMM slots support up to 32 GB of DDR3L memory for larger datasets. A DVD-RW drive and full-size keyboard with backlight complete the connectivity and input package.

Questions about this item

What operating system and drive interface does the M6800 need to boot from its 512 GB SSD?

The laptop ships with Windows 10 Professional 64-bit pre-installed on the 2.5-inch 512 GB SSD, so no extra OS licence or drive caddy is required.

Will the NVIDIA Quadro K3100 with 4 GB DDR5 work with my older external monitors?

The K3100 drives the built-in 17.3-inch 1920 x 1080 FHD panel and supports external displays through the laptop's video outputs; compatibility depends on the monitor's own input and resolution.

How can I confirm the dual-drive layout is active after first boot?

Open File Explorer or Disk Management in Windows 10 Pro — you should see the 512 GB SSD as the C: drive and the 1 TB HDD as a second volume.
