Enterprise 1.2TB SAS drive

This Dell ST1200MM0088 is a new 2.5-inch enterprise hard drive with 1.2TB capacity, 10000RPM spindle speed and a 12Gbps SAS interface. It ships in a lot of 10 units, each supplied with a PowerEdge Gen13 server caddy for direct installation.

Suited for PowerEdge Gen13 refresh

The drive fits PowerEdge Gen13 models including R630, R730, T430, R430, R730xd, T530, R530, R930, T630 and T330. Buyers without a 12Gbps SAS backplane or those needing larger capacities should look elsewhere.

12Gbps SAS interface decides fit

The 12Gbps SAS connection is the single specification that determines compatibility; the drive will only operate in systems that provide this exact interface and the matching 2.5-inch bay with caddy support.

Questions about this item

How can I verify the ST1200MM0088 is running at 10000RPM after installation?

Check the drive’s reported rotational speed in your server’s RAID controller BIOS or operating-system disk utility; it should show 10000RPM for each ST1200MM0088 unit.

What comes with each drive and what must I source separately?

Each of the 10 drives includes a Dell PowerEdge Gen13 caddy/tray; you only need a compatible 2.5" SAS 12Gbps backplane or controller, which is not included.

Which capacity version of the ST1200MM0088 should I choose for a PowerEdge R730?

The ST1200MM0088 is offered in a single 1.2TB capacity, so select that version for any listed PowerEdge Gen13 server including the R730.
