Enterprise servers needing SAS 6 Gb/s

This unit fits systems that accept a 3.5 inch SAS hard drive with 512-native sector formatting and the supplied caddy. Builders whose chassis or controller only support other interfaces or sector sizes cannot use this drive.

Questions about this item

How often will the ST2000NM0023 need maintenance or replacement under heavy workloads?

The Constellation ES.3 design includes Drive Self Test, Background Media Scan and a dedicated head landing zone that monitor health and protect platters during power cycles, extending service intervals.

What limit appears first when the 7200RPM SAS drive runs sustained writes?

The 6Gb/s SAS interface and 128MB cache set the sustained throughput ceiling; the mechanical 7200RPM spindle determines the random-access floor.

How much heat and noise does the 3.5" enterprise drive produce in a Dell PowerEdge server running continuously?

Features such as Embedded Servo Design and Perpendicular Magnetic Recording reduce vibration and acoustic output while maintaining stable temperatures in multi-drive chassis.
