Questions about this item

How do I install the 3.5in SAS drive into a PowerEdge R710, and what step is often missed?

Slide the drive into the supplied caddy until the SAS connector seats firmly, then lock the caddy handle — the handle click is the step many forget.

What maintenance or replacement will the ST3000NM0023 need over time?

The 7200 RPM mechanical drive may eventually require replacement if SMART reallocated-sector counts rise or bearing noise increases.

What limit appears first during sustained writes on the 6Gb/s SAS interface?

The 128 MB cache fills quickly, so the 7200 RPM platter speed becomes the throughput bottleneck under continuous load.
