DELL

DELL ST3000NM0023 3TB 7200RPM 6Gbps 3.5" SAS internal hard drive

SKU CH-ZRH7-KZHAD

3 TB enterprise SAS drive spins at 7200 RPM with 128 MB cache and ships with a PowerEdge caddy

  • 3 TB capacity stores large datasets
  • 7200 RPM spindle delivers fast sequential throughput
  • 128 MB cache buffers burst workloads
  • SAS 6 Gb/s interface connects directly to PowerEdge backplanes
  • Includes server caddy for tool-less installation in compatible PowerEdge models

Dell Constellation ES.3 3 TB SAS drive

This new 3.5-inch internal hard drive delivers 3000 GB of storage at 7200 RPM with a 128 MB buffer. It ships with a PowerEdge server caddy for direct mounting in compatible Dell systems.

SAS 6 Gb/s interface ceiling

The 6 Gb/s SAS link caps sustained throughput well below the rated bus speed, so sequential transfers rarely saturate the channel. Random I/O performance is limited by the 7200 RPM rotational latency and mechanical seek time.

Caddy-assisted installation

The included tray aligns with PowerEdge R310, R320, R410, R415, R420, R510, R515, R520, R610, R620, R710, R720, R720xd, T310, T320, T410, T420, T610, T620 and T710 drive bays. Installation fails when the backplane lacks SAS support or the controller firmware rejects non-Dell firmware drives.

Questions about this item

Should I pick the 3TB SAS drive or a different capacity?

This listing is for the 3000GB model ST3000NM0023; no other capacities are offered here.

What does 7200RPM actually deliver in a server?

The 7200RPM spindle provides consistent throughput for near-line workloads on supported PowerEdge systems.

Will the 6Gb/s SAS link run at full speed in my R720?

The drive uses a 6Gb/s SAS interface; actual throughput depends on the controller and backplane in the R720.
