Product identity

This is a 3.5-inch SAS internal hard drive with 300 GB capacity and 15000 RPM rotation speed, designed for desktop systems requiring high-speed storage. The drive carries Dell part number HT953 and Seagate model ST3300655SS, supplied new in packaging that may vary between retail and OEM.

Suitability

It suits servers or workstations that accept 3.5-inch SAS drives and need fast access to moderate data volumes. Buyers who require larger capacities, SATA-only interfaces, or 2.5-inch form factors should look at alternative drives that match those specifications.

Deciding specification

The SAS interface combined with 15000 RPM spindle speed determines whether this drive fits the host controller and performance envelope; systems limited to SATA or lower rotational speeds cannot use this unit.

Questions about this item

How can I verify the ST3300655SS is spinning at 15000 RPM after installation?

The drive should be recognised in the system BIOS or RAID controller showing the ST3300655SS model and 300 GB capacity. SMART data will report the spindle speed as 15000 RPM.

What comes with the ST3300655SS and what must I source separately?

The drive itself is supplied; a SAS data cable, power cable and 3.5 inch mounting tray or screws are not included and must be obtained separately.

Which version of the ST3300655SS should I choose for a 3.5 inch SAS bay?

The ST3300655SS is a single 300 GB, 3.5 inch, 15000 RPM SAS model (MPN HT953); no alternative capacities or form factors exist for this part number.
