A 146 GB, 15 000 RPM SAS desktop internal hard drive in a 3.5 inch form factor
This new Dell-branded Seagate drive provides 146 GB of storage on a 3.5 inch form factor with a SAS 6 Gb/s interface. The spindle rotates at 15 000 RPM for high transactional throughput in enterprise servers and storage arrays.
The 15 000 RPM speed and SAS interface make this drive appropriate for database logs, tier-1 applications and other latency-sensitive tasks that benefit from fast rotational performance. Systems limited to SATA-only backplanes or controllers cannot use this drive.
The drive connects exclusively through a SAS 6 Gb/s port, so the host controller or backplane must support that interface and protocol. A SATA-only connection will not recognise the device.

The drive uses the standard 3.5-inch form factor, so it mounts in any 3.5-inch drive bay or hot-swap tray designed for SAS disks.
Plug the drive into a SAS backplane or HBA port; the single SAS connector carries both data and power, so no separate SATA power cable is needed.
Enterprise 15K drives typically run 5–7 years under heavy load; monitor SMART reallocated-sector counts and replace once they climb steadily.
