Dell EqualLogic 600GB 15K SAS Drive

This new 600GB SAS hard drive spins at 15000RPM in a 3.5-inch form factor. It is built for Dell EqualLogic PS6000XV storage arrays where high IOPS and low latency matter. The 6G SAS interface matches the controller backplane in those systems. It is not intended for desktop or consumer PC use.

Installation fits EqualLogic carriers only

The drive slides into the proprietary LFF carrier used by the PS6000XV enclosure; no standard 3.5-inch tray screws align with the mounting points. Forcing it into a generic server bay will damage the connector or the carrier latch. Always verify the array firmware recognises the 02R3X part number before adding it to a virtual disk group.

600GB capacity for tier-one workloads

The 600GB capacity suits database logs, VDI write caches or small OLTP volumes that demand 15K spindle speed. Sequential throughput saturates the 6G SAS link before the media limit is reached. Random write latency stays low until the working set exceeds the physical platter area, at which point response times climb sharply.

Questions about this item

How can I verify the drive spins at 15000RPM after installation?

Check the drive's reported rotation speed in the EqualLogic PS6000xv management console or RAID controller BIOS; it should show 15000RPM.

What comes in the box with the ST3600057SS and what must I buy separately?

The drive ships as a bare 3.5" SAS unit; you must supply a compatible carrier or tray for the PS6000xv and any required SAS cables.

Which capacity version of the Dell EqualLogic 15K SAS drive should I choose for a PS6000xv?

This model is the 600GB variant (MPN 02R3X); select it when you need 600GB of 15000RPM storage for the array.
