600GB 15K SAS enterprise drive

The DELL ST3600057SS is a 600GB 15000RPM SAS internal hard drive supplied with a caddy. It delivers high spindle speed and a 16MB cache for transaction-heavy workloads in compatible servers or workstations. The 6Gb/s interface supports direct attachment to SAS controllers and backplanes.

Suits SAS bays needing 15K IOPS

This drive fits administrators who need 15000RPM performance in a 600GB SAS form factor with an included caddy for quick deployment. It is not for systems lacking a SAS controller or backplane, nor for arrays requiring larger capacity per bay or lower power draw.

15000RPM spindle speed decides fit

The single specification that determines suitability is the 15000RPM rotation speed, which defines the drive's random I/O capability and latency profile. Verify that your chassis, controller and cooling are rated for 15K SAS operation before purchase.

Questions about this item

Does the drive come with a mounting caddy or must one be purchased separately?

The listing states a caddy is included so no separate bracket is required for installation.

Which capacity and speed combination does the ST3600057SS model provide?

This model supplies 600 GB of storage spinning at 15000 RPM with a 16 MB cache.

What does the 6 Gb/s SAS interface mean for actual throughput in a server?

The 6 Gb/s SAS link supports up to 600 MB/s theoretical bandwidth; real-world sustained transfer will be lower and depends on the controller and workload.
