DELL

DELL ST600MM0006 600GB 10K 2.5" SAS internal hard drive

SKU CH-T06G-XCQZ0 MPN ST600MM0006

600 GB 2.5 inch SAS hard drive spinning at 10K RPM for fast server storage

  • 600 GB capacity stores large datasets
  • 10 K RPM delivers fast data access
  • 5 inch form factor fits compact bays
  • SAS interface supports enterprise workloads
  • New condition ensures full manufacturer quality

Capacity and interface

This is a 600GB 2.5-inch internal hard drive with a 10K rotation speed and a SAS 6Gbps interface. It is supplied new and carries the Dell part number 7YX58. The drive fits standard 2.5-inch bays in compatible servers and storage arrays.

Suitable workloads

The 10K spindle speed suits transactional databases, virtualisation hosts and other I/O-intensive applications that benefit from low latency. Buyers who need more capacity per spindle or who require a different physical interface should consider other options.

Deciding specification

The SAS 6Gbps interface is the single specification that determines whether this drive will work in your system; the host controller or backplane must support this exact protocol and speed.

Questions about this item

How much power does the ST600MM0006 draw during all-day operation?

The 10K RPM motor and SAS 6Gbps interface are designed for continuous enterprise workloads, with power draw varying by read/write pattern and enclosure airflow.

What controller or backplane is required to run this 2.5" SAS drive?

A SAS host bus adapter or RAID controller with a 6Gbps port and a 2.5-inch drive bay or backplane that accepts the standard SAS connector.

Will the 6Gbps SAS link negotiate down to work with my 3Gbps backplane?

Yes, the drive's SAS 6Gbps interface is backward compatible and will negotiate to 3Gbps when connected to an older 3Gbps backplane or controller.
