146GB 10K SAS drive for servers

This 2.5-inch SAS hard drive spins at 10000RPM and offers 146GB of capacity with a 16MB buffer. It uses a 6Gb/s SAS 2.0 interface suited for enterprise storage arrays. The drive is designed for PowerEdge server environments needing high-speed rotational storage.

Includes ten drives with server caddies

The lot supplies ten drives, each shipped with a PowerEdge-compatible caddy tray. This bundle lets administrators populate multiple bays at once without sourcing trays separately. The included caddies match the 2.5-inch form factor for direct insertion into supported chassis.

Standard 2.5-inch SAS installation

Installation follows the usual 2.5-inch SAS drive procedure: slide the caddied drive into a hot-swap bay until it locks. Ensure the backplane supports 6Gb/s SAS 2.0 signalling. A common issue is inserting the drive into a backplane limited to 3Gb/s, which reduces the link speed.

Questions about this item

Will the 16 MB cache need replacement or firmware updates later?

The 16 MB cache is built into the drive electronics and has no separate maintenance schedule or user-replaceable parts.

What limit appears first when the 10000 RPM drive runs continuously?

Sustained operation is bounded by the SAS 6Gb/s interface throughput and the mechanical 10000 RPM spindle speed.

How much noise, heat or power does the 2.5 inch SAS drive produce all day?

The 2.5 inch form factor reduces footprint by 70 percent versus 3.5 inch drives, lowering overall power draw and heat in the enclosure.
