Dell Savvio 300 GB 10K SAS drive

This lot contains ten new Dell Savvio 10K.3 hard drives, each offering 300 GB capacity and a 10000 RPM spindle speed. The 2.5 inch SAS 6Gb/s interface and 16 MB buffer suit enterprise storage arrays. Every unit ships with a compatible PowerEdge server caddy for direct installation.

Suits PowerEdge fleets needing matched spares

IT teams maintaining the listed PowerEdge models — including R610, R710, R720, T410 and M610 — can deploy these drives immediately. Sites that require larger capacities, different form factors or non-SAS interfaces should evaluate other options.

SAS 6Gb/s interface dictates compatibility

The drive connects only to controllers and backplanes that support 2.5 inch SAS at 6Gb/s. Verify that your server or storage chassis provides the correct physical and electrical interface before purchase.

Questions about this item

How often will the 16MB cache need replacement during the drive's lifespan?

The 16MB cache is built into the drive controller and does not require separate replacement; only full drive failure would necessitate service.

What is the first limit reached when the 10000RPM spindle runs continuously under heavy I/O?

Sustained heavy I/O will hit the 6Gb/s SAS interface bandwidth ceiling before the mechanical spindle reaches its throughput limit.

How much heat and noise does the 2.5in SAS drive produce when running all day in a PowerEdge server?

The 2.5in form factor and 10000RPM speed generate moderate heat and audible seek noise typical for enterprise SAS drives in multi-drive arrays.
