DELL ST9300653SS 300GB 15000 RPM 2.5" SAS accessory

SKU CH-R6GT-QHNYA MPN ST9300653SS

A 2.5-inch SAS hard drive with 300 GB capacity and 15000 RPM speed for server storage

  • 300 GB capacity stores more server data
  • 15000 RPM speed accelerates transaction processing
  • 64 MB cache boosts read and write throughput
  • SAS interface connects directly to PowerEdge servers
  • 5 inch form factor fits dense drive bays

Dell Savvio 300 GB SAS drive

The Dell Savvio ST9300653SS is a 300 GB SAS hard drive spinning at 15000 RPM with a 64 MB cache. It is built for PowerEdge servers that need fast, low-latency storage in a 2.5-inch bay. The gold-labelled unit ships with zero hours on the motor.

Hot-plug tray installation

The drive slides into a compatible 2.5-inch hot-plug tray and connects through the backplane SAS port without cables. Installation fails when the server backplane does not present a 6 Gb/s SAS link or when the RAID controller firmware does not recognise the Savvio model.

300 GB capacity for transactional workloads

The 300 GB capacity suits database logs, boot volumes and high-IOPS application tiers. Performance drops once the active dataset exceeds the physical space or when sustained write queues saturate the 15000 RPM spindle.

Questions about this item

How can I verify the drive is spinning at 15000 RPM after installation?

Check the server BIOS or RAID controller dashboard — it reports the negotiated SAS link speed and rotational speed for the ST9300653SS.

What comes with the drive and what must I source separately?

The 300 GB SAS drive ships alone; you will need a 2.5 inch drive tray or caddy and SAS data plus power cables compatible with your PowerEdge chassis.

Which capacity from the Savvio line should I choose for a 15K RPM workload?

This model provides 300 GB at 15000 RPM with a 64 MB cache — select it when you need the highest spindle speed in the 2.5 inch form factor.
