DELL 300GB 15K SAS Enterprise Drive

This DELL ST9300653SS is a 300GB 2.5 inch SAS hard drive spinning at 15000 RPM with a 6Gb/s interface. It ships new with a mounting tray included. The 15K spindle speed targets enterprise workloads that demand low latency and high random IOPS.

Suits servers needing 15K SAS performance

Buyers who require larger capacity per drive should consider other options. Systems without a SAS controller or backplane cannot use this interface. The 2.5 inch form factor fits compatible bays but will not suit 3.5 inch only chassis. Workloads needing solid-state speed should look at SSD alternatives.

Questions about this item

Will the 2.5" SAS tray fit a standard 3.5" drive bay?

The supplied tray adapts the 2.5" SAS drive to a 3.5" bay using the screw holes on the tray sides.

What is the correct orientation when sliding the drive into a hot-swap backplane?

Insert the drive label-side up until the SAS connector seats firmly; forcing it upside-down bends the backplane pins.
