Dell EqualLogic 900GB SAS Server Drive

This Dell EqualLogic ST9900805SS is a 900GB 10000RPM SAS hard drive built for 2.5-inch server bays. It delivers 64MB cache and a 6Gbps SAS interface for enterprise storage arrays. The drive is new and intended for compatible Dell EqualLogic systems.

Suits EqualLogic arrays needing 10K SAS spindles

IT teams expanding or repairing Dell EqualLogic SANs can use this 900GB 10000RPM SAS drive as a direct replacement. Buyers who need a different capacity, a different rotational speed or a non-SAS interface should look elsewhere. Laptop or desktop users without a SAS backplane cannot install this drive.

900GB capacity at 10000RPM over SAS

The single specification that decides fit is the 900GB capacity combined with 10000RPM rotation over a SAS interface. Match those three values to your EqualLogic slot and controller requirements before ordering.

Questions about this item

How is the 2.5" SAS drive installed in a Dell EqualLogic array, and what step is often missed?

Slide the drive into the hot-swap bay until the SAS connector seats firmly, then engage the locking lever; the step often missed is verifying the lever clicks fully to guarantee 6 Gbps link integrity.

What maintenance or replacement will the 900 GB 10000 RPM SAS HDD need later?

Plan to replace the drive after its rated service life or if SMART reports reallocated sectors; keep a spare ST9900805SS on hand for immediate rebuild in the EqualLogic RAID set.

What limit appears first on the 64 MB cache drive under sustained write workloads?

The mechanical 10000 RPM spindle and SAS 6 Gbps interface cap sustained throughput, so write-heavy jobs hit the physical I/O ceiling before the 64 MB cache can absorb bursts.
