Dell Toshiba 0740Y7 300GB SAS HDD

The Dell Toshiba 0740Y7 is a 300GB 2.5 inch SAS hard drive spinning at 10000RPM with a 6Gb/s interface. It is built for servers and workstations that need fast mechanical storage in a small form factor. The MBF2300RC model arrives new in retail or OEM packaging.

Suits 2.5 inch SAS bays needing 10K speed

This drive fits 2.5 inch bays with a SAS 6Gb/s backplane and works best where 10000RPM throughput matters. It is not for systems limited to 3.5 inch bays or interfaces other than SAS. Buyers needing more than 300GB or solid-state response times should consider other options.

Questions about this item

Does my server need a 2.5" SAS 6Gb/s backplane or controller for this MBF2300RC drive?

The drive uses a 2.5" SAS 6Gb/s interface, so the host system must provide a matching SAS backplane or controller with a 2.5" bay.

Will this 10000RPM SAS drive work in an enclosure that currently holds slower SAS drives?

Yes, the 6Gb/s SAS interface is backward compatible with 3Gb/s SAS controllers, so it can operate alongside older SAS drives on the same bus.
