Dell Vostro 1220 12.1" LCD Back Cover

This genuine Dell replacement part is a black plastic top lid assembly designed specifically for the Vostro 1220 laptop with a 12.1 inch CCFL backlit screen. It includes the back plastic, hinges, and wireless antenna cables. It is intended for owners repairing a cracked or damaged lid on this exact model.

Straightforward swap for experienced users

Installation involves removing the bezel, disconnecting the antenna cables, and unrouting the hinge screws before fitting the new assembly. The most common issue is ordering this part for a Vostro 1220 that uses an LED backlit panel instead of CCFL, which makes the cover incompatible. Careful cable routing prevents wireless signal loss after reassembly.

Verify CCFL backlight and part number R535R

Before ordering, confirm your Vostro 1220 uses a CCFL backlit LCD screen and not an LED version, as this cover fits CCFL models only. Match the Dell part number R535R on your original lid to ensure the hinge mounting points and antenna cable lengths align correctly with your chassis.

Questions about this item

How can I verify the back cover fits and works after installation?

The cover should align with the hinge brackets and the wireless antenna cables must route without tension; the CCFL screen cable connects cleanly and the lid closes flush with the chassis.

What components are included and what must be sourced separately?

The assembly ships with the black top lid plastic, both hinges and the wireless antenna cables; the CCFL LCD panel, inverter, bezel and mounting screws are not included.

Which Dell Vostro 1220 models accept this R535R cover?

Only Vostro 1220 units equipped with a 12.1 inch CCFL backlit screen use part number R535R; LED-backlit variants require a different lid assembly.
