Dell 512AN_HMW Wi-Fi Adapter

The Dell 512AN_HMW is a Mini PCI-e wireless network card built for Dell Inspiron 1545 and 1570 laptops. It restores 802.11n connectivity on systems where the original module has failed or is missing. Buyers needing Bluetooth or newer Wi-Fi standards should look elsewhere.

Mini PCI-e build and connector fit

The card uses a Mini PCI-e edge connector that slots directly into the compatible laptops without adapters. Its compact circuit board matches the factory form factor so the antenna cables reattach cleanly. Installers should verify the laptop whitelist accepts this part number before fitting.

802.11n practical limits

The 802.11n interface tops out at theoretical speeds well below modern ac or ax networks. Real-world throughput will drop further with distance, walls or heavy channel congestion. Users on fibre plans above 100 Mbps will not see their full line speed over this link.
