A 5U rack server with dual compute nodes, 256 GB DDR4 memory and 50 SATA hard drives, managed by dual H745 controllers and iDRAC9 Enterprise remote management
The Dell XE7100 is a 5U rack server built around two XE7420 compute nodes. Each node carries an Intel Silver 4210 processor running at 2.2 GHz with 10 cores and 14 MB cache. The system ships with 256 GB of DDR4 memory in 16 modules rated at 3200 MT/s. Fifty 16 TB 7.2K SATA drives provide the primary storage pool, managed by an H730P RAID controller and dual H745 PERC cards. Remote administration is handled through iDRAC9 Enterprise.
This configuration suits organisations that need high raw capacity in a single 5U footprint for backup, archive or cold-data tiers. The 7.2K SATA drives and H730P controller are optimised for sequential throughput rather than random IOPS. Buyers who need sub-millisecond latency or all-flash performance should look at a different platform. The dual 2400 W redundant power supplies and included rails support standard rack deployment.
The fifty installed 16 TB 7.2K SATA drives set the usable capacity and performance envelope for this server. The chassis supports up to 100 x 3.5-inch bays, so the array can be expanded later. Dual H745 PERC controllers and the H730P RAID card manage the drive set, while each node also includes four 960 GB SATA SSDs for local caching or boot duties. Network connectivity comes from a Broadcom 57414 dual-port 25 GbE mezzanine and a Mellanox ConnectX-4 LX dual-port 10/25 GbE adapter.

The chassis provides 100 3.5-inch bays total, so 50 bays remain free for additional drives you already own.
Check the iDRAC9 Enterprise interface; it reports controller status, battery health and virtual-disk state for both H745 cards.
Rails and power cords are included in the box; no separate purchase is required for those items.
