Dell Xk111 146 Gb SAS Drive

The Dell Xk111 is a 146 Gb internal hard drive with a 3.5 inch form factor and a SAS interface. It spins at 15000 Rpm and ships new with a mounting tray included for direct installation into compatible bays.

SAS Interface For Enterprise Bays

This drive suits systems equipped with SAS backplanes or controllers that accept a 3.5 inch form factor. Buyers whose hardware only provides alternative drive interfaces should look at other storage options.

15000 Rpm Spindle Speed

The 15000 Rpm rotation rate determines the drive's random access performance and sustained throughput. Verify that your workload benefits from this speed before selecting the Xk111.

Questions about this item

What real-world throughput can I expect from the 15 000 rpm spindle speed once the drive is installed?

The 15 000 rpm spindle delivers the low latency and high sustained transfer rates typical of enterprise-class 3.5-inch SAS drives, suited to transactional workloads and database logs.

What does the SAS interface limit in practice for this 146 Gb drive?

The SAS interface caps the maximum link speed to the SAS standard supported by your controller, so actual throughput depends on the host bus adapter or backplane you connect it to.

Will the included tray let me mount this 3.5-inch drive in a standard Dell server bay?

Yes, the supplied tray is designed for Dell 3.5-inch hot-plug bays, allowing direct installation without extra brackets or adapters.
