17-inch 4K touch laptop for creative professionals

The DELL XPS 9730 delivers a 17.0-inch 3840x2400 touchscreen driven by a 14-core Intel Core i7-13700H processor and an Nvidia GeForce RTX 4070 Laptop GPU with 8GB GDDR6X memory. Thirty-two gigabytes of RAM and a 2TB SSD provide capacity for large media projects. Windows 11 Home is pre-installed.

Sustained workload behaviour

The 14-core processor reaches a 5 GHz turbo frequency for burst tasks while the dedicated RTX 4070 GPU handles parallel compute in rendering and video pipelines. The 32GB memory pool and 2304GB SSD keep data local during long export sessions without relying on external storage. MyDell optimisation software adjusts power profiles automatically across extended runs.

Thermals noise and power in normal use

A quad-speaker array with Waves Nx 3D audio handles playback while the cooling system manages heat from the CPU and discrete GPU during typical creative workloads. The 802.11ac wireless link and Bluetooth connectivity maintain peripheral connections without adding thermal load. Silver chassis surfaces remain comfortable during desk-based operation.

Questions about this item

How loud or hot does the XPS 9730 get when the i7-13700H runs at 5 GHz all day?

The 14-core i7-13700H reaches 5 GHz turbo and the RTX 4070 has 8 GB GDDR6X; Dell’s vapour-chamber cooling and quad fans are designed to manage that heat load.

What must I already own to use the 3840 x 2400 touch display and 32 GB RAM immediately?

Windows 11 Home is pre-installed on the 2 TB SSD, so the 17" 3840 x 2400 touch screen and 32 GB memory work straight out of the box.

Can the RTX 4070 8 GB GDDR6X drive my older 1080p monitor alongside the built-in 4K panel?

Yes, the RTX 4070 supports multi-display output, so a 1080p external monitor can run simultaneously with the internal 3840 x 2400 touch screen.
