Docking station for Dell notebooks

The Dell E-Port Plus Port Replicator adds desktop connectivity to compatible Latitude and Precision notebooks through a single host connection. It provides five USB 2.0 ports, wired networking, and multiple video outputs for external displays. Legacy ports include serial, parallel, and PS/2 for older peripherals. Audio jacks support headphone and microphone use.

Suits owners of listed Dell models.

This replicator works only with the Dell Precision M2400, M4400, M4500 and Latitude E-series notebooks explicitly listed in the specifications. Buyers with different Dell models or other brands cannot use this dock. It also does not serve users who need USB 3.0 or newer interface speeds.

Host interface is USB 2.0

The dock connects to the notebook via a USB 2.0 host interface, which determines the bandwidth available for all attached devices. This single specification decides whether the replicator meets the performance needs of the workflow.

Questions about this item

How much desk depth does the 12.2-inch wide E-Port Plus need?

The dock is 7.1 inches deep and 2.8 inches high, so allow at least that footprint plus cable clearance behind it.

Which Dell notebook connector does the YP126 mate with, and what alignment step is often missed?

It uses the proprietary E-Port connector on compatible Latitude and Precision models; press the notebook down until the front latch clicks, not just the rear edge.

What wear items should I expect on a heavily used YP126?

The five USB 2.0 ports, eSATA/USB combo port, dual DVI, dual DisplayPort, VGA, serial, PS/2 and parallel connectors can loosen after thousands of insertions.
