Vintage cork preservation

The DeVine Ah So two-prong opener slides hardened steel prongs between cork and bottle neck, removing fragile corks from older wines without crumbling them. Collectors and enthusiasts keep the cork intact for display or reuse. A built-in beer bottle opener adds everyday utility.

Replacing wing and lever corkscrews

Traditional screw-type openers shred brittle corks and leave fragments in the wine. This tool avoids that damage when the cork is already compromised by age or poor storage. The jump is worth it if you regularly open bottles ten years or older.

Pocket-sized, no mechanism to jam

Slide the prongs down opposite sides of the cork, rock gently, and pull. The included sheath protects the tips in a drawer or pocket. What goes wrong: forcing the prongs on a tight synthetic cork can bend the tips, and very swollen corks may still resist removal.

Questions about this item

What are the dimensions of the opener so I know if it fits in a drawer or pocket?

The opener measures 5 L x 3 W x 1 H inches and weighs .159 kilograms, making it compact enough for a drawer or pocket.

How do I use the two prongs without breaking the cork, and what is the common mistake?

Rock the prongs down between the cork and bottle neck, then twist and pull; the common mistake is pushing straight down instead of rocking.

Does the stainless steel need any special care to keep the prongs aligned?

Hand wash and dry the stainless steel after use, and store it in the included sheath to protect the prongs from bending.
