Connects two serial devices via switch-selectable RS-232/422/485 to 10/100 Mbps Ethernet with SNMP, Telnet and web management
The Digi International 70001806 PortServer TS 2 MEI connects two serial devices to an Ethernet network using switch-selectable RS-232/422/485 interfaces. It provides three RJ-45 ports for 10/100 Mbps Fast Ethernet connectivity and includes a power supply for wall-mountable installation.
The unit handles continuous serial data streams at up to 230 Kbps across both ports while maintaining 100 Mbps Ethernet throughput. Management via SNMP, Telnet and HTTPS allows remote monitoring and diagnostics without interrupting the serial-to-network bridging function.
Fast Ethernet caps network bandwidth at 100 Mbps, so aggregate serial traffic cannot exceed that ceiling. The three RJ-45 ports share the same 10/100 Mbps backbone, and serial signalling is limited to the 230 Kbps maximum per port with no higher-speed serial modes available.
