Digi One IA serial server

The Digi One IA connects a single serial device to a 10/100Base-TX Ethernet network. It targets integrators adding PLCs, RTUs, barcode readers or quality equipment to an existing LAN. The compact unit requires no host PC and operates as a standalone appliance. Setup is handled through standard network tools.

One port capacity

One RJ-45 port provides Fast Ethernet connectivity while one serial port serves the attached device. The 10/100 Mbps link handles typical industrial telemetry and command traffic without saturation. Bandwidth runs out when multiple high-speed instruments share the same uplink or when large firmware images are pushed frequently. The single serial interface limits the unit to one piece of equipment.

Replaces direct wiring

This server replaces a dedicated serial cable run between a controller and a remote instrument. The upgrade is worthwhile when the device sits beyond practical cabling distance or must be managed from a central console. It does not suit installations that require multiple serial ports per enclosure or gigabit backbone speeds.
