Connects serial devices over Ethernet with an internal v.90/v.92 modem for dial-up access
The Digi 70001899 connects one RS-232/422/485 serial device to an Ethernet network and adds an internal v.90/v.92 modem for dial-up access. Three RJ-45 ports and one RJ-11 port provide the physical interfaces. The unit measures 3.3 by 5.3 by 1 inches and weighs 2.25 ounces. A 12 VDC power supply and a crossover cable are included.
This model fits installations that require a single serial connection with modem fallback over a phone line. It does not suit applications that need multiple serial ports or purely Ethernet-connected serial devices without dial-up capability.
The single RJ-11 interface is the only path for v.90/v.92 modem communication, so the part is only appropriate when a telephone line is available for remote serial access.

Yes, the unit has four RJ-45 ports for Fast Ethernet, so a switch or router with an available port is needed for network connectivity.
The RJ-11 port connects the internal modem to a standard phone line; it cannot operate simultaneously with another modem on that line.
Connect a serial device using the RS-232/422/485 switch-selectable port and confirm data passes through the Ethernet or dial-up link.
