Digi CM 16-Port Console Server

The Digi CM 16-Port Console Server gives IT administrators secure remote access to servers, routers, switches and other network equipment. Management is performed through a web user interface that supports intuitive port naming and multilevel menuing. The unit connects to the corporate TCP/IP network, the Internet or dial-up modem links. It is built for professionals who need reliable out-of-band control of critical infrastructure.

Suited to network teams managing multiple serial

This console server suits network teams that manage multiple serial devices from a central location. It is not suited to environments that require more than sixteen simultaneous serial connections. Buyers who need integrated KVM switching or dedicated power-control relays should evaluate alternative appliances. The product addresses remote console access only.

Sixteen serial ports for dense deployments

The sixteen serial ports support dense deployments where many devices share a single management point. Each port provides a direct path to a target device for configuration and troubleshooting. The port count determines how many assets can be monitored without adding extra hardware. Verify that sixteen ports match the scale of your installation before purchase.

Questions about this item

How is the 16-port console server installed, and what step do people get wrong?

Connect each managed device to one of the 16 serial ports, link the unit to the corporate TCP/IP network, then configure port names and access rights through the web interface; the step often missed is setting unique port names before enabling remote access.

What maintenance or replacement will the Digi CM 70001910 need later?

The unit has no user-serviceable parts; maintenance is limited to firmware updates applied through the web interface and occasional verification that serial cables remain securely seated in all 16 ports.

What limit shows up first when the 16-port console server runs under sustained use?

The practical limit is the 16 simultaneous serial sessions; once all ports are occupied, additional devices must wait for a session to end before they can be managed.
