NVMe M.2 Enclosure with USB 3.1 Type-C

The Digifast enclosure houses a single M.2 NVMe SSD and connects it to a host through a USB 3.1 Gen 2 Type-C port. Its machined aluminium body doubles as a heatsink to keep the drive cool during sustained transfers. The unit accepts 2280, 2260 and 2242 form factors and includes a Type-C to Type-A cable for broad compatibility.

Upgrade from SATA or AHCI M.2 drives

This enclosure is built exclusively for NVMe protocol SSDs and will not recognise SATA or AHCI M.2 modules. The jump is worth it when moving from a SATA-based M.2 drive to an NVMe model to reach the 10 Gbps interface ceiling. Buyers who need to read older SATA M.2 media should choose a different enclosure that explicitly supports that protocol.

Limited by USB 3.1 Gen 2 bandwidth

The USB 3.1 Gen 2 link caps sustained throughput at 10 Gbps, so faster NVMe drives cannot saturate their native PCIe lanes through this adapter. Thermal throttling may still occur under heavy workloads despite the aluminium chassis acting as a heat spreader. The package supplies a Type-C to Type-A cable; a Type-C to Type-C cable is required for native Type-C hosts.

Questions about this item

What M.2 key and lengths does the Digifast silver enclosure accept?

It fits M-key NVMe drives in 2242, 2260 and 2280 sizes; SATA or AHCI M.2 SSDs are not supported.

Which cable do I use first, and what is the common mistake?

The box includes a USB 3.1 Type-C to Type-A cable; the mistake is plugging it into a USB 2.0 port and expecting 10 Gbps speeds.

Does the aluminum body need any thermal pads replaced over time?

No replaceable pads are used; the CNC-machined chassis contacts the SSD directly, so only occasional dust removal is needed.
